We all draw inspiration from somewhere, or someone. I draw mine from a woman I have never met. I am a huge HGTV junkie. One of my favorite shows is Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines. They are an adorable couple who take clients out and show them houses that are one step away from demolition. The clients choose which house they want Chip and Joanna to renovate and voila, the most stunning home you have ever seen transforms before your eyes.

Well, Joanna is my inspiration. It is not because she is a home design maverick, though she is! I have yet to watch an episode that doesn’t end with me drooling. It is not because she seems like a kind, amazing woman. Though she does. I would definitely hang out with her.

Joanna is my inspiration because she decided to try to attain her dreams. It is because she runs her own design shop. She just tackled buying a huge new property for that shop, where she also plans on opening a bakery. She and Chip are busy with their show on HGTV, taking care of a farm on their property and are writing a book. On top of all that, Joanna is a mom to 4 energetic (and adorable) children. Five, if you count Chip. Which I do. Watch the show, you’ll understand.

I have decided to take a page from Joanna’s book and give my passion a try. That is why I started this blog. That is why I write every day. That is why I am taking a workshop on freelancing. And you know what? I’m having fun! I look forward to sharing my ideas with you and hearing what you think as well. For instance, who is your inspiration? No matter what happens, I know I am giving writing a shot. And I will never look back and wonder…what if I had just tried?

On a final note, I saw this sign when looking through Joanna’s shop, Magnolia Market. Not only did it really feel like it was made just for me, but it is only $18. So if you will excuse me, I have to go buy my sign!

  1. Lynne, a few of the Portland gals and I are traveling to Texas to visit their shop. You can join us. I watched one episode of Fixer Upper and I am hooked! Can’t wait to binge watch it this weekend, since it might snow! I ❤ New England 🙂
